I think you read my mind and you are correct, this is an idea whose time has come. I believe unless and until we get someone like DeSantis in office nothing will change. We are all politicians from the moment we are born and failure to take a political stance is just - well, failure.
As I'm sure you're aware this goes way beyond the United States. It is time for Americans to stand for the Constitution, for a return to the philosophy of the founding ancestors. A return to the Common Sense of Thomas Paine, to the ability to overcome the differences and celebrate the diversity with the brilliance of Jefferson, Adams, Washington, and Madison.
As Thomas Jefferson wrote: "I prefer dangerous freedom to peaceful slavery". Without a commitment to this "dangerous freedom" we will continue to fail until there is nothing remaining.
We have a Constitution. Let's put it back to use. Paine was correct - this is not simply the hope of America but the entire planet. "Unalienable rights, endowed by the creator." So many have given up. Let's fix that.
