Happy Father’s Day everyone!
While I’m not huge fan of America’s love of “Hallmark Holidays” I do want to take a moment to recognize the importance of celebrating the role that Mothers and Fathers play in our society.
Their importance must not be overlooked.
A certain political movement is trying to erase gender, sex, and most of our most sacred societal institutions, so we may as well take the holiday while we have it.
I’ve been a dad now for 6 years. My three children are the center of my life. I couldn’t imagine life without them and I couldn’t imagine who I would be if I wasn’t a dad.
I appreciate that my kids and wife do things to say thank you on Father’s Day.
But I prefer to use the “holiday” as a reminder to double down on my appreciation for them.
Being a father is the best thing I could aspire to be. It has taught me so much about myself, about the world, and honestly about God.
I don’t pretend to be the worlds best dad, and I’m a long way from having even the simple things “figured out”, but like everything, I’m trying my best and striving to get better every day.
I hope that you know the love of a mother and/or a father. I hope that you all get to experience the joy of being a father or a mother. But if not, there are ways to be a parental figure in someone’s life, if not directly. Maybe there is a broken relationship in your past. Maybe today is a good day to try to put things back together a little better than they were yesterday.
Take the time to lean in and be a positive influence in someone’s life.
Love yourself and your neighbors the way a parent loves a child, without condition.
The world needs more of this. Especially with the way things are going these days.
If you need an example, look to the Bible. A fathers love is within reach at all times. It consumes us and we long for it.
Anyway, I know this wasn’t a typical political post but I hope you’ll humor me for a day!
Happy Father’s Day to all of you Dads out there and God bless you ALL!
I appreciate you bring here and wish you nothing but sunny skies and rainbows ahead.
(Not those rainbows 😉)
Much love,
Caleb
Many people grew up in households devoid of a stable male role model. Your words are an inspiration to many fathers and fathers-to-be. What would you say to guys, particularly millennials or younger, who are uncertain about the significance of their role as fathers in society today?
